Now to add the the language option, you simply have to insert the code snippet “&locale=en_US” (for English) somewhere after the facebook like button link, so the code would look like this:
(click in the box to highlight the code for copy)<textarea class=codetable rows=10 cols=50 value=”" onclick=”highlight(this);”><iframe allowTransparency=’true’ expr:src=’"http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=" + data:post.url + "&locale=en_US&layout=button_count&show_faces=false&width=80&action=like&font=arial&colorscheme=light"’ frameborder=’0′ scrolling=’no’ style=’border:none; overflow:hidden; width:80px; height:20px; background:transparent’/></textarea>

Flickr provides a neat little badge that lets you embed and display your public photos onto web pages and blogs.
Now Facebook too has introduced a photo badge for you to share your most recent Facebook photos on external sites. The embed code is nothing but a static image so you can even use it as an email signature in Gmail, in web forums or your various social networking profiles.

Like the Flickr badge, Facebook too allows you to create photo badges in both vertical and horizontal layout and you can also specify the number of images that should be part of the badge.
However, the difference is that while Facebook will only display your most recently uploaded photos (that are public), Flickr lets you choose Photo Sets, tags, etc. that you want to showcase inside the Flickr badge.

How to send a message to all fans of your Facebook Page
Filed Under Social Media Strategy | Leave a Comment
If you administer a Page on Facebook and you want to send a message to all your fans, there is no obvious method of doing it. In order to do it, you’ll have to dig inside the “Edit Page” button on the sidebar.
- Log into Facebook
- Visit your Page. Eg: Tech Spikes
- On the left sidebar, there is an “Edit Page” button. Click it.

- On the right, look for a box saying “Promote your page”.

- Click “Send an update to Fans”.
- Type in your message and off it goes!

- Check the “Target this update” box to choose the kind of audience you want to reach with this update.

And that’s it, you’re done!

One simple method to keep your visitors stay in your website is to add a recent posts in the sidebar of your blog. The visitor is exposed to more content in your blog. This can easily be done in blogger by adding the “feed widget” with the default post feed as given below: http://yourblog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
Replace “yourblog” with URL of your blog in the above line. Now, with the above described method you can add only 5 recent posts but what if you want to expose more content to your visitor. So, Use Feedburner’s BuzzBoost to increase and cuztomize your recent posts. For this, you first need to create a account with FeedBurner and then burn your feeds. It is very simple to do.
![]() |
1. Navigate to “Publicize” tab from the dashboard for the feed you have burned now.
2. Look in the left sidebar to find a tab namely, BuzzBoost. Click on that.
3. On the BuzzBoost page, you can find many more options to customize the look of your recent posts widget. These options are pretty self-explanatory. Your widget will be some what like this if no options(no tick marks) are selected. 4. Once all this is done, you need to activate this option. You can find a “Activate” button at the bottom of the post. Click that and activate. Now, you can get the HTML for your recent posts widget.
5. Insert this code in your blog. I mean navigate to “Layout>> PageElements” from the dashboard and click on ” Add a gadget”. Select “HTML/JavaScript” and paste the code. Save it. That is it!! View your blog!!! |

Marketing Your Business on Facebook: Group or Page?
Filed Under Social Media Strategy | Leave a Comment
Small business owners such as myself are always on the lookout for ways to promote their business. With over 150 million users and still growing, Facebook can be a great way to do that.
What are the two approaches in Facebook?
There are two tools that Facebook offers that can be used to market your business: groups and pages.
The differences between groups and pages are subtle, and average Facebook users probably don’t notice how they are different. In fact, I didn’t realize the difference myself, even after I started looking into which to use – which is how I ended up creating a group before I realized the error of my ways and created a page instead.
So why did I ultimately decide to use a Facebook page instead of a group? Simply put, because pages offer more flexibility to post such things as:
- Customer reviews of my work
- Recent blog posts through the RSS application
- Connections to pages of my clients
But groups can have their benefits too – just not for my purposes. Here is a quick table that summarizes the differences between the two tools:
| Key Feature | Page | Group |
| Shortcut URL | Yes | No |
| Discussion forum | Yes | Yes |
| Discussion wall | Yes | Yes |
| Extra applications? | Yes | No |
| Messaging to all members | Yes | Yes |
| Visitor statistics | Yes | No |
| Video and photo galleries | Yes | Yes |
| Event creation and invitation | Yes | No |
| Promotion with ads | Yes | No |
Thoughts?
So now that you know the difference between Facebook groups and pages, which would you use to promote your business, or that of a business or organization you work for or with?
If you’re a small business owner and already use a Facebook group or page to market yourself, which approach do you use and why? Is it working for you?
Share your thoughts with everyone on both of these questions…
